With its fine structure, the new Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2013, born in the light of chalky soils, is a truly energetic wine.

2013, AN INDIAN SUMMER HARVEST

2013 was a late harvest, one of the last to be picked in October. Spring was a long time coming after a particularly long and chilly winter. Mid-April saw the start of an exceptional summer, hot, dry, and bright, with more than 800 hours of sunshine - a first for Champagne! The grapes developed with strength and energy. A few light showers at the beginning of September gave the bunches more volume and ripeness. The Chardonnays showed exceptional finesse: concentrated, juicy, and fresh.

COMTES DE CHAMPAGNE: FIRST AND FOREMOST A TERROIR

"We chose to use only the five Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs for the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs cuvée," explains Damien le Sueur, Managing Director of Maison Taittinger. The Chardonnays come from the five villages of: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. This unique terroir stretches over a strip of land barely 20km long. The white grapes thrive perfectly in these soils, from which they draw minerality, strength and aromatic finesse.

"Comtes de Champagne reflects the high standards, passion and soul of the House. Thanks to our precise and uncompromising choices in the making of this wine, and our determination to build a unique and consistent personality over the years, Comtes de Champagne is now one of the very few great wines. An experience full of multiple sensations, Comtes de Champagne reveals itself with modesty and discretion. Tasting it takes us on a journey back in time, just like the legend of Comtes Thibaud IV, which it continues to bring to life", says Vitalie Taittinger, President of Champagne Taittinger.

In the making of Comtes de Champagne, only the best 'cuvées' are selected, demonstrating an absolute demand for finesse. Of the wines that make up this exceptional champagne, 5% have been aged for 4 months in oak barrels, a third of which are renewed each year. They add toasty notes to the final blend.

Synonymous with a unique and exceptional moment, Comtes de Champagne 2013 lives up to all its promises. Limpid, with a beautiful sparkling yellow color and light golden highlights, the bubbles are fine, delicate and lively. This is a wine of great mineral power, dense and rich, with the Chardonnays showing a hint of iodine. This vintage seduces with its precision, its density, its flavors intertwined with ripe citrus fruit, pastry notes....

"The Comtes de Champagne taught me that nobility should be drunk...". Amélie Nothomb
